Job Summary
The Street Laborer is responsible for the maintenance of City grounds and properties, parks, and streets.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Individual duties, assignments and responsibilities required of the position)
- Repair streets, curbs, and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching
materials, and concrete.
- Remove and replaces damaged traffic signs.
- Sows grass seed or plants trees, shrubs, or flowers, according to
instructions and planned design of landscaped areas.
- Apply herbicides or mulch to designated areas.
- Grub and weed around bushes, trees, and flower beds. Trim hedges and
prunes trees.
- Mow grass. Pick up and cart away paper and rubbish.
- Drive a truck, cut tree limbs, and load fallen tree limbs and roadside
trash onto truck.
- Repair and paint benches, tables and guardrails, and assists in repair of
roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
- Remove debris and carcasses in public areas
- Drive a tractor with mower attachment to cut grass.
