Business Description

The Hill Country Singers began as an informal group of 23 charter members gathered around the piano at The Island in early 1994. Their first director was Harry Hoffman and they called themselves, The Island Singers. Their vision was to develop a professional, yet spirited, presentation while performing throughout the community. On August 25, 1995 they incorporated as The Hill Country Singers, a non-profit 501(c)3 in Lago Vista, TX, and began offering membership to all residents of the North Shore with an interest in music and the time to commit to rehearsals.

As the choir expanded, the performances moved from The Island to the Lago Vista Middle School gymnasium for several years. For many years the Singers performed at the lovely K-Oaks Clubhouse and in 2014 were awarded the honor of inaugurating the brand new, beautiful, acoustically magnificent, state-of-the-artPerforming Arts Center at the equally new Lago Vista High School.

The Singers have been under the direction of Harry Hoffman, George Mather, Glen Beeler, David Stevens and William Parcher. Each director, through his own style, continues to enhance the professional quality of the chorus by introducing new techniques and broadening the repertoire. Today, the Hill Country Singers are over 75 members strong. The chorus is a group of people who enjoy fellowship with one another and have fun making music together for their audience to enjoy.
